I believe art is one of the most important and complex ways to communicate with each other. My work aims to create your own emotional response, your eyes travel through the layers, shapes, and lines. I have created each piece with a vision to understand what life is and how I navigate it.

I first explored patterns through everyday objects and large-scale drawings. This was developed from observing everyday objects around me, everything I saw repeatedly, traveling to and from Norwich from the countryside.
I used a square pattern and moved into triangles; my university friends will speak lovingly about my triangle stage in life. Years later, I was still creating intense drawings exploring mark-making with mainly Biro pens and tonal drawings inspired by stones and seeds—stones I collected from trips to the beach, reminding me of childhood breaks with my Nanny Rhoda in Hemsby. Seeds from the allotment in my garden reflected my resourcefulness, gardening was a way to save money on food.
I would go for walks in the countryside to get out of the house, capturing images of plants and trees all year round. This is all part of the beginning. The shapes I use in my work today have been growing over a long time, now, in this settled state. My shapes feel like I have been carrying them around with me my whole life. They are now a part of me.
When I draw and paint it feels like a natural process. I am growing onto the surface, producing something new, in reality, it is just an extension of myself. Emotions attach themselves through the use of movement, colour, and texture.
